Artist statement

"Dead or alive"
The Jericho rose is an annual desert plant that continues to open and close upon contact with water and to seed even after it has died. This phenomenon seemed miraculous and evoked legends and symbols in the believers of the three monotheistic religions. In this piece Michal Tikochinski and I presented a question; Is it dead or alive? provoking contrast between the persistent movement of the plant recorded in a film and a porcelain empty shell of the plant. A hollow image of the symbol of rebirth.
